Investigators returned to the site where Gus Lamont was found

EXCLUSIVE: Investigators have returned to the site where 4-year-old Gus Lamont was found last week — and during this second inspection, they made a chilling discovery that wasn’t there during the first search.

According to law enforcement sources, the new evidence was uncovered less than 30 feet from where Gus’s remains were located. Officers discovered a small red toy truck, half-buried in the mud, appearing recently placed rather than weathered by months outdoors. What alarms investigators most is that this toy did not appear in any of the original search photos or drone footage from the area.

Experts are now analyzing whether the toy was moved or planted after the first search ended. A forensics officer described it as “a deliberate placement — not something nature did.”

Even more unsettling, witnesses recall that Gus’s mother had repeatedly mentioned a missing red toy truck in the days after her son vanished. The family said it was his favorite, and that he never went anywhere without it.

Investigators have now sealed off the area once again and are combing through nearby surveillance footage and GPS data to determine who might have returned to the site after it was cleared.

A source close to the case said:

“If this toy was put there after the discovery, someone wants attention — or wants to send a message.”

Police have not commented publicly on whether the toy truck could be linked to a second person involved in Gus’s disappearance, but the discovery has reopened public debate over whether the case was truly accidental or if someone had been watching the investigation all along.
