The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has confirmed a fatal accident involving two vehicles that occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 21.
According to officials, an 18-year-old driver and a 12-year-old passenger, both from Centre, were killed when the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek they were traveling in was struck by a 2006 Kenworth tractor-trailer. Tragically, both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened on Cherokee County Road 29 near County Road 28, approximately nine miles northeast of Piedmont in Cherokee County.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. No further details have been released at this time.
