NOW: Police have RECOVERED the “black box” from the stolen car that contained Arnie’s body — and at exactly the 17-second mark of the recording, investigators say something unexpected happened.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the car’s internal monitoring system, which automatically logs sound and motion inside the cabin, captured a brief but chilling moment: a sudden thud, followed by what sounded like scratching against the rear door — and then complete silence.
Detectives reviewing the data said the 17-second audio spike appears just minutes after the stolen vehicle was last seen moving on camera. What caused the noise is still unknown. Officers refuse to confirm whether it came from Arnie trying to push toward the window… or from someone else inside the car before it was abandoned.
The stolen vehicle was later found dumped on a dim corner of Amelia Street, Fortitude Valley. Arnie, the beloved seven-year-old German Shepherd, was discovered lifeless in the back seat.
Forensic teams are now analyzing the black box logs frame by frame, hoping that the final recorded seconds inside the car will reveal who left the vehicle there — and why.
One investigator described the audio as “the moment that changes everything.”
Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the surrounding area to come forward as they try to uncover what really happened in those final, silent minutes.
