With heavy hearts, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced the passing of Highway Patrol Trooper Jerry Wayne Adamick Jr.

According to officials, Trooper Adamick was responding to an urgent call to assist fellow law enforcement partners at around 9:15 p.m. on Monday, September 15, when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree, and caught fire. Despite immediate response from emergency crews, Trooper Adamick tragically passed away at the scene.

Trooper Adamick dedicated more than two decades of his life to serving others — both as a proud member of the DPS and as a member of the United States Army. Colleagues described him as a devoted public servant, deeply loyal to his community and his country.

“Jerry’s commitment to protecting Texas and supporting his fellow officers will never be forgotten,” DPS said in a statement.

He leaves behind a legacy of courage, service, and sacrifice that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

🙏 The community is being invited to share condolences and honor Trooper Adamick’s memory in the coming days.
