In a deeply personal and largely unpublicised move, beloved TV presenter Anthony McPartlin has reportedly purchased a 27-acre farm in the heart of Devon — and is planning to transform the property into a £2.3 million Animal Therapy Centre aimed at supporting those with serious mental and physical illnesses.

🐾 A Quiet Purchase With a Big Purpose

The sprawling countryside estate, acquired earlier this year under a private trust, includes open pastures, woodland trails, and several outbuildings already undergoing renovation. Locals noticed an uptick in construction activity but were unaware of the project's purpose — until now.

A source close to the McPartlin family confirms:

“Ant wanted to create something completely off-grid and healing. This is his way of giving back — through animals, nature, and quiet restoration.”

🐕 A Therapy Centre Like No Other

The planned facility, set to open in phases starting late 2025, will reportedly combine:

  • Equine therapy for trauma recovery

  • Canine companionship programmes for veterans, children, and dementia patients

  • Specialist retreats for cancer patients and those with long-term illnesses

  • Purpose-built eco cabins for overnight stays

  • A children’s interaction barn focused on emotional support through animal care

Perhaps most impressively, the centre is said to be completely free for approved patients — with funding coming directly from McPartlin’s personal fortune and private donors.

💬 What Inspired It?

The idea reportedly took shape during McPartlin’s own recovery journey from addiction several years ago. Friends say time spent around animals helped rebuild his emotional balance.

“Ant knows what it feels like to lose yourself — and what it means to heal slowly, gently, surrounded by unconditional love,” one friend shared.
“This centre is born from experience, not PR.”

🌳 Community Response

The quiet village near the estate has already expressed support. One resident said:

“If anyone’s going to use land like this for something good, it’s him. We’re excited to see it grow.”

📅 What’s Next?

  • Construction is expected to continue into spring 2025

  • The centre will operate with a small on-site staff and rotating therapists and volunteers

  • McPartlin is also believed to be planning a soft documentary series about the project’s evolution, in partnership with a UK mental health charity
