JUST DONE: Police found a black bag tied tightly in the pond where 15-year-old Evan Mercer’s body was found — and when they opened it, they saw…
Authorities working at the remote Willowridge Pond made a disturbing discovery late this afternoon while continuing the investigation into the mysterious death of 15-year-old Evan Mercer.
Divers noticed something unusual beneath the murky water — a small black bag wedged between tree roots at the bottom of the pond, tied with two layers of knotted cord as if someone wanted to make sure it never floated back up.
The bag was immediately retrieved and opened on-site.
Inside, investigators found a set of objects that deepened the mystery surrounding Evan’s final hours:
-
A rusted silver pendant with an unfamiliar symbol carved into its center
-
A piece of fabric torn from a shirt — but not one that Evan was wearing the day he disappeared
-
And most unsettling of all, a waterproof note, sealed in plastic, containing only three handwritten words:
“HE SAW ME.”
Detectives have not yet confirmed whether the items are connected to Evan’s death, but the location of the find — only three meters from where his body was recovered — has raised major questions.
Police have now classified the area as a restricted active scene, and forensic teams are examining the items for fingerprints, DNA, and any trace evidence that could indicate who placed the bag there — and why.
Locals are shaken, with many saying this discovery “changes everything.”
Investigators say they expect updates soon.
