LUBBOCK, TEXAS – A shocking crash has devastated a Texas community after Aidan Poole, a 19-year-old sophomore at Texas Tech University, was struck from behind at high speed by a drunk driver in a Porsche.
The violent impact launched Aidan’s car into the air before it exploded into a fireball. Flames engulfed the vehicle, leaving Aidan with severe burns over his entire body. He was pulled from the wreckage alive but critically injured and was rushed to the Lubbock Burn Unit, where he is now undergoing multiple surgeries and enduring excruciating treatment.
Aidan had just started his sophomore year as an honors Physics major with minors in Math and German. His family describes the crash not as an “accident” but as an “attack,” caused by the reckless decision of the driver to get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
“Our son’s life changed forever in just seconds,” the family said in a statement. “We will fight for justice, no matter how long it takes.”
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and the Porsche driver is facing serious charges related to drunk driving and causing catastrophic injury.
