NEW UPDATE: A police K9 unit has just made a crucial discovery in the ongoing search for 6-year-old Gus Lamont — a half-torn slipper believed to belong to the missing boy. The find was made earlier this morning in a dense patch of brush several kilometers from the original search site.
According to reports, the trained police dog suddenly stopped and began barking at a mound of leaves near a narrow trail. When officers cleared the area, they uncovered a small blue slipper, partially ripped and still damp from recent rain. The slipper was immediately secured and handed over to investigators on scene.
What made officers take the discovery straight to the police command tent, however, was what they found inside the slipper — traces of dried mud mixed with what appeared to be small strands of hair, now being sent for urgent DNA analysis.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the slipper definitively belongs to Gus, but investigators say the size, color, and unique pattern on the strap perfectly match the footwear seen in photographs of the boy before he went missing. The area has since been sealed off as forensic teams conduct a detailed sweep for more evidence.
