According to local reports, the workers noticed the small backpack partially buried under leaves just a few meters from the recovery site. They immediately contacted authorities, who arrived and carefully opened it in front of witnesses.
Inside, police reportedly found two small stuffed animals, a pair of children’s shoes, and a handwritten note that appeared to be soaked but still legible enough to read a few words. Officers on scene were visibly emotional as they examined the contents.
Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the backpack belonged to either Bowyn or Banx, but it is currently being treated as potential evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Residents nearby described the discovery as “heart-wrenching”, saying it brought back the pain of losing the two boys. One witness said, “When they opened that bag, everyone just went silent — some started crying. It felt like their little spirits were still there.”
Police have requested privacy for the families as forensic teams continue to analyze the items found inside the backpack.
