HEARTBREAKING: After months of silent investigation, police have tracked Melodee Buzzard’s mother’s car to a remote property on the outskirts of Riverside County — and what they discovered inside has left investigators in tears.
According to officials, the vehicle’s built-in GPS led them to a small, abandoned cabin hidden deep behind overgrown trees, nearly 40 miles from the last confirmed sighting of Melodee. Detectives believe this was the place where Melodee had secretly lived for the past year, completely off the grid.
When officers opened the door, they found traces of someone who had been living there recently: a small bed neatly made, a half-empty water bottle, several notebooks filled with handwritten letters, and — most chillingly — a mirror covered with a scarf, as if she hadn’t wanted to see herself.
One investigator described the scene as “like time had stopped”. Everything inside was untouched — a single pair of shoes, a blanket folded at the foot of the bed, and a calendar stuck on the date Melodee disappeared.
Police say they also found a hidden compartment beneath the wooden floorboards containing old photos, a phone without a SIM card, and a piece of paper with coordinates that appear to lead somewhere else.
Authorities have not confirmed whether Melodee herself left the site voluntarily or was being held there. However, one source close to the case said:
“It’s the first real evidence showing where she’s been — and what she might have been afraid of.”
Forensics teams are now analyzing every object found inside the cabin, while the FBI has cordoned off the area for further investigation.
