Police have found the 12-year-old girl’s DIVING EQUIPMENT — and upon inspection, they discovered a crucial piece of evidence that could change everything…
ROCKWALL, TEXAS — In a major development in the tragic death of 12-year-old Dylan Harrison, authorities have confirmed that they’ve recovered the diving equipment she used during her fatal training session at Scuba Ranch, Terrell.
According to early reports, the equipment — including Dylan’s air tank, regulator, and buoyancy control device (BCD) — was found and brought in for forensic analysis. Investigators say that something discovered inside the gear may hold key answers about what went wrong during her final dive.
Officials have not yet disclosed exactly what the evidence is, but multiple sources suggest that police found unusual signs within the tank system and possible damage to one of the safety valves. It remains unclear whether this damage occurred before or after the incident.
Detectives are now working with diving safety specialists to determine whether equipment malfunction, human error, or improper supervision could have contributed to the tragedy.
Dylan was last seen smiling at the surface before her class descended to a 16-foot platform underwater. Moments later, she vanished — only to be found 42 feet below, far from the group, in dark and cold water. Her death shocked the local community and left her family devastated.
While the official cause of death has not been announced, police say this new discovery “may provide critical insight into the moments before Dylan went missing.”
A spokesperson for the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office shared:
“We are treating this as an active investigation. Every piece of equipment and every second of footage is being carefully reviewed. No conclusions will be made until all evidence is analyzed.”
Dylan’s family, still mourning their loss, hopes the findings will finally explain how such a preventable tragedy could happen under certified supervision.
Her mother posted online:
“She trusted them. She loved the water. If something failed her, we deserve to know why.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to release further updates once the inspection reports are complete.
