Authorities investigating the disappearance of Kara Dawson, 23, say they have identified a possible second individual connected to the case — and the revelation has left the Dawson family “heartbroken,” according to a source close to the investigation.
Detectives confirmed late Tuesday that digital evidence and phone records pointed toward someone who had frequent contact with Kara in the days before she vanished. That individual has not been publicly named but is described as “a trusted acquaintance.”
“It’s someone the family knew, someone who was welcome in their home,” said one investigator. “That’s what makes this discovery so painful.”
Police have executed new search warrants as part of what they call a “critical turning point” in the investigation. Meanwhile, friends and community members have gathered outside Kara’s apartment complex, leaving flowers and messages demanding justice.
“The worst part is realizing it may not have been a stranger,” said one family member. “That kind of betrayal cuts deeper than anything.”
Officials have declined to provide additional details until charges are filed, emphasizing that the case remains active and sensitive.
