LIVERPOOL — July 29, 2025
In a shocking twist no one saw coming, police attending Diogo Jota’s private memorial service earlier today discovered a handwritten note hidden inside the shirt of a teddy bear placed near the player’s portrait.
According to officers on the scene, the bear had been sitting quietly among dozens of fan tributes for days — until an observant attendee noticed an unnatural bulge near its chest and alerted security.
“YOU’RE LOOKING AT THE WRONG PERSON”
Inside the bear’s stitched shirt, police reportedly found a folded note, wrapped tightly in cling film. The letter contains chilling sentences, including one that reads:
“You’re looking at the wrong person. The crash wasn’t random — he was warned twice.”
Most disturbingly, attached to the note were two grainy, printed photographs, believed to have been taken from a car park security camera 48 hours before the crash. One shows Jota speaking with a hooded individual next to a black vehicle. The second shows what appears to be the same individual following him out of the garage later that evening.
Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the person in the photos, but a source close to the investigation said the photos “raise serious questions” about the initial conclusion that Jota’s death was a tragic accident.
Was the Crash Orchestrated?
The note also contains a scribbled series of initials and a possible license plate number that detectives are now working to verify. Though authorities have declined to release the full content of the message, one line reportedly reads:
“He told her to stop asking about the Lisbon trip. Now he’s gone. Now she’ll be next.”
This chilling implication has sent shockwaves through the player’s family, who were reportedly present when the note was found.
Family in Tears — Investigation Reopened
A family friend at the scene described the mood as “devastated and chaotic.”
“His wife collapsed into tears. She thought they were finally finding peace. Now it’s like the whole nightmare is starting again.”
Authorities confirmed late Tuesday night that the crash case is being reopened as a “potential targeted incident.”
Who Planted the Bear?
CCTV from the memorial site is now being reviewed to determine who left the teddy bear and when. Early footage suggests it may have been placed by a woman wearing a dark hoodie and sunglasses, who remained at the site for less than 90 seconds.
The bear itself is now in forensic custody.
DEVELOPING STORY…
As investigators race to verify the note’s claims and the identity of the mysterious figure in the photos, questions swirl about Jota’s final days, the Lisbon trip referenced in the message, and whether more clues have been overlooked.
Stay tuned for the full photos and police statement once released.
