In a touching announcement that has animal lovers across the country cheering, Dana Perino and her husband, Peter McMahon, revealed plans to build five new dog rescue stations — and that’s not all.
The beloved Fox News anchor also shared that she will be hosting a brand-new special program on Fox News focused entirely on animals, rescue stories, and the people who dedicate their lives to helping them.
“This is more than a project,” Dana said during America’s Newsroom. “It’s a passion. It’s a promise to help those without a voice.”
The five new stations will be located in underserved rural areas across the U.S., with a focus on rescuing abandoned and senior dogs, providing medical care, temporary shelter, and adoption support.
Dana, known for her deep love of animals and her late dog Jasper (a fan favorite on Fox), has long been an advocate for rescue work. This new initiative, she says, was inspired by the overwhelming response she’s received from viewers who share that same love.
The upcoming Fox News special — titled “Paws & Purpose” — will highlight rescue success stories, behind-the-scenes work at shelters, and profiles of heroic animals and their caregivers. Dana will host alongside animal experts and surprise guests, with the first episode airing this fall.
Her husband Peter, who’s played a quiet but key role behind the scenes, added:
“This isn’t just about saving dogs. It’s about restoring hope — for animals, and the people who adopt them.”
Fox News confirmed full support for the project, with a network spokesperson saying:
“Dana has always had a heart for service. This show and these rescue centers are a reflection of who she is — compassionate, driven, and dedicated.”
As Dana put it simply:
