In a moment that some are already calling “a miracle wrapped in a mother’s instinct,” the desperate search for the 27 missing girls in Texas has taken a shocking turn — all thanks to a mother’s nightmare.
At exactly 3:17 a.m., Maria Solis, mother of 9-year-old Camila — one of the girls missing from Camp Mystic — jolted awake in tears after a vivid and terrifying dream.
“I saw her standing near a tree with something red behind her,” Maria told reporters. “She kept pointing to the ground, like she wanted me to see something buried. Then I woke up screaming.”
Still shaking, Maria grabbed a pen and drew what she remembered: a crooked tree, a curved hill, and what looked like a symbol — a triangle with a circle at its center.
She brought the sketch to local police later that morning, insisting that it meant something. To her surprise, an officer recognized the symbol as one occasionally used in old fire-watch maps to denote natural sinkholes.
Acting on nothing but faith and a mother's fear, a K9 unit was dispatched to the matching location — a remote, forested area just 6 miles south of the flood impact zone. What they found there was nothing short of extraordinary.
Underneath a fallen tree and layers of brush, rescuers discovered Camila — barely conscious but alive, her hands clutching a piece of fabric torn from her backpack.
“This woman’s nightmare and her drawing may have saved her daughter’s life,” said Deputy Mark Ellison. “We never would’ve searched that sinkhole. It wasn’t even in our designated zones.”
Camila is now in stable condition at a children’s hospital in Houston. When asked how she survived, she whispered: “I kept hearing my mom’s voice. She told me not to sleep yet.”
The emotional rescue has reignited hope for the remaining missing girls — and left seasoned officers shaken by the uncanny events that led to this breakthrough.
As the search continues, investigators are now reviewing reports of other parents experiencing dreams or visions in hopes of unlocking more unseen clues.
This is a developing story — but one thing is clear: a mother’s love may have just changed the course of this tragedy.
