Philadelphia, PA — Authorities have released the final CCTV footage showing 23-year-old Kada Scott, who vanished last week under mysterious circumstances. The video — captured just hours before she was reported missing — has prompted what police describe as a “critical reclassification” of the case.
The grainy footage, recorded from a street camera near Walnut and 17th Street, shows Scott walking alone shortly after 11:40 p.m. She appears to glance repeatedly over her shoulder, holding her phone tightly in one hand.
But investigators say something happens around the 10-second mark that triggered an immediate internal alarm.
“When we reviewed the clip, every officer in the room went silent,” a law enforcement source told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
While officials have not confirmed what exactly appears in that frame, the video reportedly shows a shadow or movement behind Scott moments before she vanishes from the camera’s view. Within seconds, the screen flickers — and the recording cuts off.
Police have since expanded their search perimeter to include a two-mile radius around the last confirmed location, and forensic teams are re-examining nearby vehicles and alleyways for trace evidence.
“We are now treating this as a high-risk disappearance,” said a police spokesperson. “The footage changed the direction of this investigation.”
Family members say Kada had texted a friend shortly before the video timestamp, writing only:
“Someone’s following me.”
Authorities are urging anyone in the area that night with dashcam or phone footage to come forward.
The full CCTV clip has not been publicly released, but sources describe it as “disturbing” and “unlike anything seen in recent missing-persons cases.”
