In a tragic milestone to one of the most harrowing cases in recent memory, Texas authorities have confirmed the recovery of 26 bodies believed to be those of the girls who vanished from Camp Mystic during the historic flood two weeks ago.
But what’s fueling a national firestorm tonight is the location of the final girl — the 27th — whose body was just found 25 miles from the original search zone, far beyond the path of the floodwaters, and under circumstances authorities are calling “deeply suspicious.”
The final victim, whose name has not yet been released, was discovered in a drainage culvert beneath an abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Belton, Texas — a full day’s walk from the camp, with no clear waterway connecting the two areas.
What stunned investigators even more: she was found fully dressed in her camp uniform, hands bound, with a plastic bracelet that read:
“GROUP C — LAST TO GO.”
The bracelet has never been seen before at the camp and does not match official registration supplies, according to former staff members.
“There is no way this is flood-related,” said Lt. Arlen Cruz. “This girl didn’t drift. She was moved.”
Officials now believe this discovery points to human involvement in at least part of the tragedy — possibly suggesting that some of the girls were abducted during or after the chaos of the flood.
The announcement has sparked nationwide outrage. Hashtags like #FindTheTruth, #NotJustAFlood, and #JusticeFor27 are trending across all platforms. Protest vigils have already begun forming in Austin, Dallas, and Washington D.C.
Parents and advocacy groups are now demanding a full federal investigation into Camp Mystic’s staff, evacuation plans, and the early days of the rescue effort — which some claim were “delayed, disorganized, and dismissive.”
“We were told it was a storm,” said one grieving parent through tears. “But now we know… something else happened out there.”
This case has officially shifted from a natural disaster to a multi-agency criminal investigation.
More updates to come as the truth continues to surface.
