Portuguese police said they will resume searching for Madeleine McCann, the British toddler who disappeared in the country's Algarve region in 2007, in the next few days. In a dramatic twist to one of Britain’s most haunting unsolved cases, investigators working on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have confirmed they’ve received a previously unheard testimony — from a witness who stayed silent for 18 years.

According to sources close to the German-led team, the individual — whose identity remains protected — recently came forward with “information that could not have been known without proximity to the scene” on the night of May 3rd, 2007.

The timing of this revelation comes just days after police concluded a new forensic search near Portugal’s Arade Dam, believed to be linked to suspect Christian Brückner, currently imprisoned in Germany.

A Chilling Detail

What’s shaken the investigative team — and stunned observers — is one detail in particular. The witness claims to have seen “a blonde girl in pink pyjamas being led toward a white camper van” between 10:30pm and 11:00pm, close to the Ocean Club resort.

While similar claims were made in the early stages of the case, this new testimony reportedly includes a previously undocumented hand gesture made by the man leading the child — described by the witness as “a rapid three-finger wave towards someone across the road.”

German prosecutors have reportedly labelled this gesture “a potential signal to an accomplice.”

Why Now?

The witness — said to be a British tourist who was 17 at the time — claims they withheld the information due to fear, confusion, and personal circumstances, but recent media coverage and renewed interest in the Brückner case compelled them to come forward.

A member of the German investigative team told The Westminster Report:

“This is not just another vague sighting. This person remembered a gesture, a direction of travel, and other specific sensory details that have never been part of the public narrative.”

Could It Change Everything?

With Brückner’s release from prison potentially looming in 2025, investigators are under pressure to assemble undeniable evidence. If the testimony can be independently verified — especially with any supporting CCTV, cell data, or other witness alignments — it could be a critical link in finally securing charges.

Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have been informed of the new statement but have made no public comment.

For a case that has been plagued by dead ends and speculation for nearly two decades, this new witness might just provide the sign that finally shifts the investigation from darkness to daylight.
