Police Confirm: 2 Missing Girls Found on Rooftop in Texas Flood After 10 Days — Survived on One Thing, Then Revealed 7 More Children Are Still Trapped Below

By Amanda Blake | American Morning Post | July 16, 2025

In what officials are calling a “miracle wrapped in heartbreak,” two of the 27 girls missing from the flooded Camp Mystic site in Texas were found alive — clinging to a rooftop 10 days after they were swept away by deadly waters.

The girls, ages 9 and 11, were discovered Tuesday morning by a drone patrol scanning a cluster of semi-submerged buildings previously unreachable by foot. They were waving pieces of torn clothing in the air, crying uncontrollably when rescuers arrived.

But what stunned emergency teams was not just their survival — but how they survived.

According to first responders, the girls had survived the full 10 days eating nothing but rain-soaked crackers from a crushed emergency snack pack that had floated near them during the initial flood. The pack contained just six crackers — which the girls rationed, one bite at a time.

“They told us they kept the last piece just in case they couldn’t make it another night,” said medic Trina Howard. “They were smart, strong… and holding on by pure will.”

But their story didn’t end there.

Once stabilized, the girls whispered something that immediately changed the focus of the ongoing search:
“There are 7 more kids… below us.”

Officials now confirm the structure the girls were found on — an old maintenance shed built atop a hollow foundation — may be covering a crawlspace or underground chamber, potentially created or expanded by shifting floodwaters.

Thermal scans are being deployed immediately, and rescue teams are preparing for excavation.

“If there are children beneath that structure, time is running out,” said Texas State Police Captain J.D. Walker. “But we believe them. After 10 days alone, they didn’t just survive — they brought hope.”

As of this update, 18 girls remain unaccounted for. The two survivors are being treated for dehydration, sunburn, and emotional trauma, but are expected to recover.

This story is developing. More updates to follow as the rescue operation intensifies at the rooftop site.
