Lorraine Kelly has provided her fans with an update on her health after undergoing “preventative” surgery in hospital. The beloved Scots TV presenter had to take time off from her morning programme as she recovers at home under doctor's care.

At the age of 65, Kelly underwent a procedure to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes. She had previously taken to social platforms to express her immense gratitude for the kindness shown by NHS staff during her stay in hospital.

Just two weeks after informing her audience from the comfort of her hospital bed, the ITV icon updated her followers about her recuperation, prompting a wave of concern and support from her fans for her well-being.

Taking to Instagram, Lorraine posted an endearing photo with her baby granddaughter Billie, reassuring her followers with her caption: “Thanks so much for all your get well wishes. Billie providing the medicine ever with lots of cuddles for her granny. Hopefully back to work on Monday. I've missed you.”

The Mirror reports that Lorraine opted for this “purely preventative” operation, which is commonly conducted and typically lasts between 40-60 minutes according to the NHS. This bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) is often undertaken by perimenopausal women experiencing ovarian cysts, for managing pain, or to preclude the potential onset of ovarian cancer, reports Daily Record.

Lorraine's Instagram update saw an influx of loving comments from fans, with one particularly adoring fan commenting: “Billie looks so much like Rosie there.”

Another penned a heartfelt message: “I love this picture … babies are the best medicine ever … take care, my friend. ” A third chimed in with praise, saying, “Lovely photo, and glad Billie is cheering you up.”

With Lorraine Kelly taking a break from her popular morning show, Andi Peters had to step in at the last minute when Ranvir Singh also had to bow out due to an urgent health emergency, requiring surgery for a ruptured appendix.

In a candid message to her followers earlier in the month, Lorraine shared a health update, revealing: “Just wanted to let you know I'm having a wee procedure today. I've not been feeling all that well for a little while, so I had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out.”

She reassured fans, adding: “It's purely preventative. It's going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible. I'm being very well looked after, and I'll obviously see you really soon, and I'm gonna be totally fine.”

Lorraine is currently enjoying a period of rest at her magnificent Buckinghamshire residence, where she's receiving loving care from her husband Steve Smith and their daughter Rosie.
