Wednesday fans are getting ready for some serious dark gothic vibes as the series returns for season 2 with more mischief and eeriness in Nevermore Academy in just a few months. This time around, fans are preparing themselves as the Netflix series ramps up its story with new characters joining the cast, and now that production on the show has officially wrapped up and is making its maiden voyage to the small screen, Jenna Ortega gives viewers a sneak peek at the inner monologue of her characters mind, revealing what the moody teen would really hate most about the commercialization of the beloved show.
Jenna Ortega Reveals How Wednesday Would Feel About Fame of the Show
Talking to Harper's Bazaar, Jenna Ortega revealed how Wednesday Addams would feel about her place in pop culture due to the success of the Netflix show. Ortega said the intelligent yet moody teen would probably “hate” the commercialization of it all because of her status as an outsider and loner in society. Speaking about how Wednesday would handle fame, Ortega thinks that she wouldn't care about it whatsoever, but that she would very likely hate to see her face on products like “mugs, cereal boxes, and T-shirts,” and that she would hate the monetization of it all. Since Wednesday isn't afraid to speak her mind in the most brutal fashion possible at times, it's very likely that she wouldn't enjoy being made a fuss of and would kick up at anything remotely to do with commercialization, as she would feel it would go against everything she isn't.
Just like the character she portrays, Ortega herself has become a massive star with roles in the Scream franchise, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and Miller's Girl, among others. However, Ortega has some similarities with Wednesday in that she is also quite reclusive in her private life. “To be quite frank, after the show and trying to figure everything out, I was an unhappy person,” Ortega admits. “After the pressure, the attention, as somebody who’s quite introverted, that was so intense and so scary.”
Wednesday Season 2, part one, will be released on August 6, while the second section of episodes will debut on September 3 via Netflix.
