LIVERPOOL — July 29, 2025
In a revelation that has shaken the already fragile narrative surrounding Diogo Jota’s tragic death, the footballer's longtime personal driver has come forward with a sworn statement — confirming that he dropped Jota off at a suburban apartment belonging to a woman who is not his wife, just hours before the fatal crash.

The driver, whose identity remains protected under witness confidentiality laws, told investigators that the drop-off occurred around 10:38 p.m., in a quiet cul-de-sac roughly 45 minutes outside Liverpool.

“I’ve dropped him off there before,” the driver allegedly admitted. “But this time… something felt different. He asked me not to wait.”

Shocking Visual Proof

Even more damning is the release of surveillance photos captured by a nearby residential camera — showing Jota and the unidentified woman embracing at the gate and later leaving the building together around 1:15 a.m.

“She picked him up at the same spot two nights before,” a neighbor confirmed. “We thought they were a couple.”

These 12 time-stamped stills, reportedly handed over to police by a local resident, show Jota in casual clothes, hoodie pulled over his head, while the woman appears to be leading him inside with her arm around his waist.

Police are now working to verify the woman’s identity. While unconfirmed, a partial facial match suggests a resemblance to a former sports nutritionist affiliated with a rival club — a detail that would carry major implications if proven true.

Family “Disoriented” by Development

According to a close friend of the family, Jota’s wife collapsed in tears after being shown the driver’s testimony and the photos.

“It’s not just betrayal,” the source said. “It’s the timeline. The idea that the last person who saw him alive wasn’t her, or any family member — but a stranger no one was told about.”

Club Silent, Investigation Reopened

Liverpool FC has declined to comment. Police confirmed late Tuesday evening that this new information has prompted a formal reopening of the investigation, particularly in regard to Jota’s whereabouts and mental state in the final hours before the crash.

An official said:

“This confirms Jota was not alone, nor at home, the night before the crash — a detail not previously accounted for in any statements.”
