A devastating crash on I-85 in Montgomery, Alabama, claimed the lives of United States Marine Landon Dunn and social media influencer Alyshia Rushing, known online as “Mama A.”

The collision occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 22. According to reports circulating online, Alyshia was allegedly traveling the wrong way on the interstate at more than 100 mph when her vehicle struck Landon’s head-on.

Both drivers died in the crash. Alyshia’s passenger, N’Audia Renfroe, reportedly said she had been asleep before the collision and suffered minor injuries.

Landon was driving home from North Carolina to visit his family and girlfriend. Reports indicate that he was only about an hour from his destination when his life was taken.

Alyshia was a single mother of four who built an online following by sharing motherhood and lifestyle content. In the hours following the crash, much of the attention on social media centered on her death, while Landon’s name received comparatively little recognition.

As more information about the circumstances of the collision has emerged, that conversation has begun to change. People are now making a point to remember Landon—not simply as the other person involved in the crash, but as a young Marine whose life was cut short while traveling home to the people he loved.
