Two children are dead after a major wreck on Interstate 22 Friday evening, the Marshall County coroner confirmed.
One of the children was 5, the other was younger, the coroner said.
The wreck blocked both directions of I-22 between Cayce Road and Red Banks Road beginning around 5 p.m.
A person who said she witnessed the wreck said a semi-truck flipped in front of her going westbound and ended up on the opposite side of the highway, impacting a vehicle with a family inside.
Photos from the scene show an overturned tractor-trailer that appeared to have spilled a load of lumber on the road, with skid marks crossing the median.
